I am excited to be a part of such an involved and amazing community of families working together for our kids. My husband Ron and I have one child going into the first grade at Cedar River and another who is in preschool but chomping at the bit to begin her journey as an Otter. My family is still relatively new to Maple Valley but we are in love with this community and can’t imagine being anywhere else! Summer may be almost over, but after the most unique school year ever I am so thankful that our kids (and hopefully parents!) are getting to have a bit more normalcy going into the 2021 - 2022 school year. Our PTO has many great plans for the year in the works and we will be finalizing them under our district’s guidance with regard to COVID safety, so stay tuned! Dear Families, Thank you for joining us last night for our general meeting. While this school year has been rather unconventional we are trying to continue to support our staff/students the best we can. We are happy to announce that your CRES PTO Board has approved a grant for our school in the amount of $10,750. This grant will be utilized to fund individual teacher enrichment in grades K-5, health room, PE, music, school counseling, special education, specialists (ie. RAP, MAP, Future Ready & others), student recognition, equipment, field trips, programs (ie. Missoula Children’s Theater) & other student enrichment. As you know are aware this is just another way that your PTO dollars are being put to use. The reason we charge membership dues and conduct year round fundraising is to help fund grants like this along with all of our other programs we oversee throughout the year. We are looking for a parent from each class to help coordinate picture collection for each class and work with our Chair. This will be a virtual position that will mostly be reviewing pictures submitted from parents and/or help the Chair with Yearbook layout.

Well, here we are on the last day of the strangest school year ever! This year has shown us what we’re made of and grown us together in ways we could have never imagined. I couldn’t be prouder or more thankful to be part of the Cedar River family. We know that the Fall 2020 will look different and we look forward to working together to provide the best experience for every CRES student in the new school year. We wish you a wonderful summer! Our next CRES General Meeting on May 11th, 2020 at 7:00pm. This meeting will be held virtual again, we will be sending out an agenda, dial in options and links prior to the meeting. Staff Appreciation Week Schools may be closed but teachers and staff are still hard at work. We may not be able to celebrate them in person but we can still make sure they feel appreciated!!! We will be celebrating Teacher/ Certificated Staff Appreciation Week May 4- May 8th. We have a week full of virtual ideas you can use to show your teachers how much you miss them and how much they mean to you. Keep in mind, all of these ideas are just suggestions. If you have any gifts/ideas of your own to show your appreciation please be sure to contact your teacher (through whatever means they have provided you with) to coordinate delivery. Monday - You're A Poet and Didn't Know It Monday- Write your teacher a poem (a simple rhyme, Acrostic, Haiku, Cinquain) to tell them how great you think they are. Tuesday-Talent Show Tuesday- Are you a great artist, singer, magician, actor, rubik's cube solver, LEGO engineer, 3 point shooter, lip syncer?Take your talent and turn it into a beautiful picture, skit, LEGO sculpture, music video, etc and record it or snap a picture of you in action and send it to your teacher to put a smile on their face. Wednesday-Whacky Wednesday- Knock,Knock.Who's There? You are, and you're going to email your teacher a funny joke you think they'd like. Thursday- Thoughtful Thursday- Take a moment to think about your teacher and answer some of the following questions. Then either record a video of you answering the questions or write the answers down and email to your teachers. Possible Questions:
Friday-Favorite Things Friday- Record a video message/write an email to your teacher telling them some of your favorite things about being in their class and having them as a teacher. Have fun with these ideas! Your teachers will be so happy and will definitely feel appreciated!
